Readlyst is designed to help you build a better reading habit. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you when you use our mobile applications and website.

1. Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: such as your name, email address, and account identifiers when you create or manage an account.
• Reading information: books you add, reading goals, session duration, progress, notes, streaks, and related activity you choose to record.
• Device and usage information: app version, device type, operating system, language, approximate region, crash reports, and interactions with features.
• Communications: information you provide when contacting support, joining a waitlist, or responding to a survey.

2. How we use information

We use information to provide and improve Readlyst, sync your reading progress, personalize your experience, maintain app security, troubleshoot problems, communicate service updates, respond to support requests, and understand which features are useful. We do not sell your personal information.

3. Legal bases

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform our contract with you, pursue legitimate interests such as improving and securing the service, comply with legal obligations, or based on your consent. You may withdraw consent where processing depends on it.

4. How information is shared

We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate Readlyst, such as cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, customer support, and email delivery providers. These providers may process information only for the services they perform for us. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Analytics and tracking

We may use privacy-conscious analytics and diagnostic tools to measure app performance and feature usage. Where required, we ask for permission before using technologies that track activity across other companies’ apps or websites. You can manage applicable permissions through your device settings.

6. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal or accounting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods depend on the type of information and why it is processed. When information is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and protect access to your device.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, download, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, or object to certain processing. You may update available account information within Readlyst and opt out of promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages.

To request account and associated data deletion, use the deletion option in the app when available or email support@readlyst.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Children’s privacy

Readlyst is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in their country to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. International data transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Readlyst evolves. If changes are material, we will provide notice in the app, by email, or through another appropriate channel. The effective date above shows when this policy was last updated.
